Massage Therapies with Tanya and Vigyan
Holistic Massage - Deep Tissue Massage - Pregnancy Massage - Hot Stone Massage - Traditional Thai Massage - Indian Head Massage

Holistic Massage is a form of structured touch. Using techniques based on swedish massage Holistic Massage uses the hands, forearms and elbows to glide over the skin and apply pressure to the underlying muscles, sometimes you may be in need of a deep tissue massage where you want to feel that you have "had something done", or you have an injury through overwork and sometimes you may want a more nurturing massage for instance whilst in pregnancy or at times of stress to lull you into a state of wonderful relaxation and restfulness.

We may use mobilisation and stretching techniques which put a lot of movement into the massage, occasionally you will lie on your side enabling me to work more deeply into certain muscles we will always check in with you as to what you need before starting any massage. This can be a 30 minute to 2 hour treatment

Deep Tissue Massage may be used when muscles are particularly tight and/or knotty, this may be due to emotional stress, physical overwork of the muscles, or injury related aches and pains.

When you have a Deep Tissue Massage you will find that the pressure used may be quite strong, but the amount of pressure used is entirely up to you, I will always check in with you & ensure the depth of massage is suitable for you and that you feel comfortable with the work we are doing. When you have Deep Tissue Massage you will find that a mixture of Holistic Massage is incorporated so there is a balance of "work" being done and relaxation techniques, it is still a really nourishing massage.

If you find you suffer with back or shoulder pain, headaches, neck pain or stiffness deep tissue massage can be really useful in managing or eradicating the pain.

It is really important to hydrate after a Deep Tissue Massage to ensure you flush out any toxins released during the massage, we will remind you of this when you come for your session. This can be a 30 minute to 2 hour treatment

Pregnancy Massage can be really beneficial! It can help soothe the aches and pains caused by the body's tissues softening in readiness of labour, help to reduce swelling caused by oedema and also help you become aware of where you are holding any tension making you feel more at home in your body, it can also help you get a better nights sleep!

When you come for your pregnancy massage, depending on the stage of pregnancy you will find it is slightly different to your normal massage, you will lie on your side, I use pillows for your head and bolsters for you to cuddle so that you are very comfortable and giving you a wonderful feeling of being nurtured and looked after.

There are areas of the body that can typically become tight and tense in pregnancy, you may experience lower back pain or pain around the sacrum, you may wish to concentrate on these areas or you may prefer an hour of complete relaxation, we can discuss this at your initial consultation and ensure the best massage for you. This can be a 30 minute to 90 minute treatment

Hot & Cold stone therapy with Tanya is a deeply relaxing and nurturing massage treatment integrating very smooth water heated basalt stones and chilled marble stones. You will be massaged with the stones (held in my palms) and have stones placed under, on and around your body. The heated stones will help your muscles relax and the chilled stones help balance out the body temperature, the chilled stones are also excellent when used in areas of swelling or tension.

LaStone® Therapy originated in 1993 and delivers the principles of geothermotherapy - alternating the application of heated and chilled stones to the body, to deliver a deeply therapeautic, relaxing, grounding, deep tissue and cleansing treatment which has its roots in Native American traditions and beliefs. The type of basalt that is used in LaStone® therapy is modified igneous rock that is formed by volcanic and sedimentary action. Basalt is the most abundant of the volcanic rocks and has great density, these stones stay hotter longer than any of the other stones Earth has to offer. This can be a 90 minute to 2 hour treatment

Traditional Thai Massage with Vigyan is an ancient healing art, originating in 3000 BC. Thai Massage works on an energy line system (the Ten Sen) through which the body’s natural life force flows.

Vigyan works with you lying on a futon mat on the floor and uses hands, feet and elbows to apply pressure to important points along these lines. The treatment also includes joint mobilisations and applied yoga type stretches. This releases blocked energy and frees the body’s own natural healing potential, thus restoring balance and harmony.

Please bring loose comfortable clothing to wear during the treatment.

Benefits of treatment

Receiving Thai massage increases flexibility, freeing tension and allowing greater ease of movement. It improves vitality and can increase wellbeing. The treatment also releases blocked energy and frees the body’s own natural healing potential, thus restoring balance and harmony.

A Thai Yoga massage session will induce deep relaxation and tranquillity. This can be a 30 minute to 2 hour treatment

Indian Head Massage with Tanya is a wonderfully relaxing, seated and, if you prefer, clothed treatment which involves massage of the face, head, neck, shoulders, arms and upper back. It can help with neck pain & headaches, as well as sinus problems and is great for stimulating the hair follicles, encouraging hair growth! It has a deep effect on the entire body in its physical, psychological and spiritual forms. Virtually all illnesses are stress based in one way or another; Indian Head Massage is a marvellous 'de-stressor' leaving the body in a stronger position to heal itself. It can leave you in an almost mesmerised state of calm and well being.

Head massage has been practiced in India for over a thousand years, originally it was a social interaction between the women of a family or area. Amongst other scenarios when doing the washing at the river, whilst waiting for it to dry in the sun, the women would massage each other's scalps to keep their long, lustrous hair in good condition. Oils were used throughout the hair and on the scalp such as coconut oil, mustard oil, sesame oil, almond oil and olive oil. It is believed that regular massage of the scalp will promote the growth of strong, healthy hair. This treatment takes half an hour and can be an ideal introduction to massage. This is a 30 minute treatment
